Transition to High Schools
High schools in our local area start to contact us at the beginning of the Summer Term to arrange transition visits between the schools. These visits range from a week's transition to select days across the year, dependent upon the high school. This information is shared with parents and children as soon as we are informed to ensure children feel confident about their transition to high school.
We normally would receive a visit from a high school transition leader to meet the children joining them. This is often the Head of Year 7 and a SENDCo.
Any relevant information about your child will be passed on to the high school, including attainment information and any special education needs (SEN) information which they will require.
We hope that most of your children will secure their first choice for high school places. For others, if you need to go through an appeal process, the information will be given by the respective high school and we wish you the very best of luck with that process.
