At Reedham, we aim to keep children safe, happy and learning. We have high expectations and aspirations for our children, supporting them to realise their full potential. We aim to make a difference. Our school provides a child-centred, broad and balanced curriculum, employing the most effective methods of teaching and focusing on developing children’s learning in all areas; teachers are consistently upskilled to do this. We have clear shared values, with close links to our church community. We are fortunate to be visited twice a month by the team from ‘Open the Book’, who share stories from the Bible in our assemblies.
We aim to give our pupils as many opportunities for learning as possible, including school trips and residential stays. We build confident, enthusiastic learners in a nurturing and safe environment. Our tolerant, polite, and responsible children take pride in everything they do. We believe in good manners and respect, independence and high aspirations – we aim to support learners to be exceedingly well-prepared for the next stage of their education – to be life-long learners
Reedham Primary and Nursery School is in the rural village of Reedham and first opened in 1871. Over the years the school has expanded and been modified. As of September we have 68 pupils on roll, aged 4-11 in the primary school, with space for 80. Our Nursery has space for twelve children with morning, lunchtime and afternoon sessions. We are currently very full in nursery, with 13 children on roll attending sessions across the week. Both the main school and nursery can also access a breakfast club running from 8:00 until school and nursery start and after school club sessions the end of the school day until 5:00pm.
The school is arranged into four mixed aged classes; Squirrel class (EYFS age 2 – 4 years), Heron class (YR, Y1 & Y2 – age 4 – 7 years) Owl class (Y3 & Y4 – 7 – 9 years) and Otter class (Y5 & Y6, age 9 -11 years). Classes are taught by a qualified teacher, our teaching staff are supported by highly skilled and experienced learning assistants, who work across the classes to support groups of children.
Our EYFS classes have both well-equipped inside and outside areas, which support continuous provision. Each classroom is equipped with Chromebooks (almost one per child), computers and iPads for pupil use, in addition to interactive boards to aid teaching and learning.
The grounds have been developed in recent years, with a trim trail, a tyre play area, a new outdoor classroom and off site school field. We are incredibly lucky to be one of two schools in Norfolk to have a swimming pool on site. Our heated swimming pool is enjoyed by all pupils, they have swimming lessons during the summer term. Many areas of school have been significantly improved as part of the redecoration, for example, the modernised bright and well stocked library, the creation of an extra intervention room as well as new toilets for the children to use.
We are proud of our achievements and continually seek to improve. If you would like your child to become part of our school, please contact the school office and make an appointment to meet us and have a look around. I look forward to meeting you and sharing the learning journey of all your children.
